Unqualified Leadership – Why J.D. Vance?

Politics is frustrating, and presidential politics are the worst of it. My inbox is full of daily requests for funds from both Democrats and Republicans. I even get the occasional email from the Libertarians. It used to be that the laughable ideas presented by the Libertarians were the only things I could make fun of, but the Republicans this cycle make them look like amateurs. It got much worse when the woefully unqualified and unlikeable J.D. Vance joined the party. What were they thinking?

My politics are pretty simple at this point. I vote against Trump and his Republican cult. His ideas have no redeeming value. Heck, I’m not even sure what his ideas are, as he can’t seem to articulate a clear plan about anything important. His “close the borders” and “deport illegal immigrants” rhetoric is tiresome and unrealistic. I live in California, and our economy depends on immigrant and seasonal labor. His ideas would ruin all that. And don’t get me started on tariffs. He’s running on tanking the global economy. It makes no sense, but then he picks J.D. Vance, which makes even less sense.

J.D. Vance, with his alleged preference for couches and dislike for cat ladies, simply drives people to Harris. His book became a decent movie, but it appears to be a work of fiction. Vance did not live the life he wrote about. His life and success are a fiction. He is one illness away from being our president, without the experience necessary to prepare him for the role. If not for his billionaire benefactor, he would be a private religious school teacher.

Picking Vance makes sense in a weird way. After all, Trump was an unqualified president, so why not pick an unqualified running mate?
