I hate the word bombshell

This is a rant of sorts, and I think “rant” is the right term to use. I hate reading the word “Bombshell” in a YouTube title. Political bloggers are driving the most recent downward spiral. Everything, no matter how insignificant, is a bombshell. But if you take the time to listen, it’s never a bombshell; it doesn’t even rise to the level of “Earth Shaking.” It’s just news, and it’s usually nothing more important than something everyone was already anticipating.

Take this story for example: TWO Major BOMBSHELLS About Kamala’s Campaign Just DROPPED – YouTube

I’ll save you a long 5:43 seconds. Kamala Harris will be the only name on the list of candidates voted on at the Democratic convention. Secondly, she’s going to pick a candidate from a short list soon, perhaps by next Tuesday. I’m devastated to learn this. Good lord, I feel like somebody dropped a bomb in my living room. I’ll never be the same.

Was any of this a bombshell? No. It’s simply repackaged news and a waste of time. I’m sure it’s some AI algorithm that generates the most catchy title for whatever is in the video’s script, but still, please, use a good headline instead. I might want to watch your video if you do.

Let’s check a few others:

I know it’s useless to hope, but dang it, without hope what do we have?

I’ve sworn off YouTube as a political news source for now. Wait… what’s this bombshell announcement about the Rings of Power? Oh god… I. Must. Not. Press the button.
