I wrote a post on my Substack called Reaching Beyond the Echo Chamber. I’m not posting it here for… reasons.
This metaphor captures the idea well. I’m not sure who wrote it, but I like it:
Imagine a cozy café where people come for quiet conversation, a good book, and a cup of coffee. Now, imagine that same café also stocks and sells dynamite. Even if the café insists it’s just a side business, the presence of explosives changes the entire atmosphere. Some regulars might feel uneasy, while others come specifically for the dynamite, ignoring the café experience entirely. Combining a peaceful, apolitical personal journal with a charged political blog creates a similar tension—one audience may feel alienated, and the other may drown out the original intent.
