One of my 2026 goals is to start a YouTube channel where I can post my birding and nature photos, while learning how to develop and post videos. I’ve been a photographer most of my life, but I find creating videos a challenge. My plan is to build this skill while working on my Bird Nerd 2026 project and my Birding Big Year project.

I posted my first video today. It’s a collection of bird and animal photos I took in December for the Bird Nerd project. December was a productive month, with 38 photos and two lifers. I held back a bit because I wanted to reduce the friction between project. My big year effort kicks off tomorrow and keeping track of two projects and the related birds is challenging.

New Lifers:

Bewick’s Wren (Oak Canyon Nature Center, Anaheim)

Snow Goose (Carbon Canyon Regional Park, Brea)
